Following Mandela’s Way

  • School Vision

We envision students of the Mandela International Magnet School (MIMS) graduating with the initiative, vision, desire, and tools to be agents of positive change in our global community.

MIMS will equip students with the linguistic, cultural, and academic skills—as well as with the emotional intelligence—needed to be active and responsible world citizens, disciplined learners, and compassionate, principled, and innovative decision makers.

  • Core Values

    Education is liberation.

Ubuntu. I am because we are.
Our community is enriched by our diversity. • Individuals learn in different ways.

    See the Good in Others.
People thrive in an environment of physical, emotional & intellectual safety.

    It’s a Long Game.
The spirit of inquiry & life-long learning is essential to flourishing in a dynamic world. • An environment of high expectations raises standards of achievement.

Lead from the front & the back.
Our students learn more from what we do than what we say.

Look the Part; Be the Part.
Individuals are a part of—& have a responsibility for—the health of their local & global communities.

  • School Mission

Mandela International Magnet School is a public school of choice for students in grades 7 – 12 where learning via intellectual curiosity and inquiry are at the core of all we do.

By utilizing the International Baccalaureate curriculum and its Learner Profile, students will succeed academically and actively use their diverse talents to work towards creating a better and more peaceful world.
