Volunteer
There are many opportunities to be involved with the Mandela PTA—without getting overwhelmed or burned out! We all have a million balls in the air; and we also all want to support our kids’ school.
You can one-and-done lead an event and then peace out. You can be a background pinch hitter for every last activity. You can do innumerable things in between! Events, Meetings, Fundraisers, Communications, Clubs & Enrichment, Advocacy… We got it all!
You might want to:
Be a grade representative for your child’s grade level.
These folks will help communicate with grade-level teachers, families, and the PTA.

Take ownership of or help staff a PTA event.
Whether you love the Community BBQ, Mandelapalooza, Prom, Teacher Appreciation Week, or the Raffle, there’s a place where your talents can deliver. You don’t have to do them all! Just one!
Donate money, food, supplies, or time to the PTA. These are always appreciated!
Attend our PTA meetings and help direct our fundraising efforts and where those funds go.
General meetings happen the second Tuesday of every other month at MIMS: They’re listed on our homepage calendar.
We keep them to an hour: 5:30-6:30 pm.
Take a leadership position: The PTA works best when board members overlap and combine new ideas and energy with institutional knowledge.
Support enrichment clubs for students, tutor, or offer special learning opportunities.
Contact our principal, Randy Grillo at rgrillo@sfps.k12.nm.us for these interests.
