Support for Student Experiences
MIMS students are intellectually curious and community minded. From 7th-10th grade, they learn the objectives of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP). In 11th and 12th grade, students enter the IB Diploma Program (DP), with some choosing to take one or two higher-level classes for course candidacy and others pursuing the full IB Diploma in addition to their SFPS diploma.
Students assume responsibility for academic engagement, self advocacy, and diving deeper in subjects of interest. They also engage in community service, creative pursuits, and physical activity, per the IB model.
Kids need to have fun, too! So, Mandela PTA’s student support includes:
School Celebrations
Highlighting student work and fundraising for Mandelapalooza, our annual festival of the school’s music, visual arts, and theater programs.
Creating the Junior-Senior Prom with the Student Council
Supporting foreign-language students’ Dia de los Muertos week and Chinese Spring Festival.
Check out Dia de los Muertos and Chinese Spring Festival on our events listing
Experiential Education
Supporting field trip transportation and experiential education costs that expand student experiences.
Providing occasional treats to keep up morale and balance the seriousness!
Graduation & Next Steps
Helping to inform the college application process
Contributing to MIMS graduation ceremonies and senior gifts
